Becomingness

*GOD*day!

Doing vs. Being

be v. 1. Shows that something or someone is the same as the subject. 2. Shows time and position. (Today is the first day of my new life in-Christ.) 3. Showing identity or a quality.

become v. 1. To come to be. (“John 1:12: “He gave the right to become children of GOD.”) 2. To happen to.

becoming adj. 1. Suitable, proper. 2. Suitable for the wearer.

Did any of that at all mean anything at all to you on a Biblical level?

It should resonate that action is required on our part to be all that we can be for GOD. Why? For the obvious of all reasons, we are to be suitable to wear the image of Christ Jesus.

If the actions of thought, saying or doing we take are not suitable to Who we are/should “be” becoming, it must be then that what are thinking, saying, doing, or what we are about to do can’t have so much becomingness of Christ Jesus, now can it? The answer is such a simple one. It’s quite clear, crystal clear in fact.

To Be The Same As The Subject

That’s the “to be or not to be” for a Bible Believing Christ-centered CHRISTian. Being is showing identity in-Christ Jesus, as well as showing the qualities of being in Christ Jesus.

Genesis 6:11-12
As far as God was concerned, the Earth had become a sewer; there was violence everywhere. God took one look and saw how bad it was, everyone corrupt and corrupting—life itself corrupt to the core.

Look around you, do you see the Body becoming more or less than? Do you see the Body advancing and working towards becoming in qualities the same as Who we are to be identified with? Or do you, like me, look around and see that we’ve let so much of the ways and traditions of how the world does things in, we’ve let go of the way GOD showed us to do things.

Look back in time and consider those who were led by GOD. Look and see if they took a poll, or they found a mans means to doing the will of GOD. Did they take the man made road and accomplish what GOD wanted them to do, or did they listen and do what GOD wanted them to do, and therein those who were not in tune to the same “still voice” didn’t hear it as well, and thought that person out of touch, out of style, out of their mind.

Sadly we the people in the Body of Christ, not all, but many, have decided if I find a place to sit and be, I’m happy to be me. If I find a comfortable place where I’m serving and I’m becoming someone, then I indeed must be doing things right. Maybe you don’t think that so sad, I do. I surely do.

To me, being a godly woman trying her best I don’t care if you are twenty years old leading people or hundred years leading people, if you are not allowing Him to be all your lead, you might be a great leader of some people, but you are not, ARE NOT leading for Him. What a GOD thing it was that Noah, Moses, David, Jeremiah, Timothy, Paul, and many others who came before us, and spoken of, didn’t find it necessary to find out what everyone wanted them to do. They didn’t need to get a bunch of people together to discuss the all important, where do we go from here? Nope, they just went out. What a concept, radical eh? In the Bible, when and If GOD was not leading them, they suffered the consequences of trying to do the so called thing that pleased most of the people most of the time. In fact there were a bunch of people who numbers on their side. Look how that turned out. No really, go read and see for yourself, if you don’t know, or you need to be refreshed on the way it is all suppose to be going down. I mean I don’t have that degree hanging on the wall from some Bible college but I’m just curious, when ever did Jesus say there was suppose to be all this gathering of everyone together and that if you didn’t do all that fellowship thing you were an outcast, outsider, unsociable. Show me, tell me! There are many people who attend church on Sunday-most of the time the only open day to go to church, and they work in secular world. Day in, day out, they are in the trenches of the world trying to do a job in a world they don’t belong. All the while the church people who are doing all this inside planning thing, don’t work in that world, they just want to tell you all about what this world is looking for, looking to see, but they never, ever ask you or me, now do they?

Have another festival, a carnival, a what ever you want. How about just having a sermon on the mount? Now there’s a thought. Maybe just bring them what has the power to change lives. The very Word of GOD. Oh no wait, you have to go take a program for that, you have to attend some what have you. Which just jumbles and blows my mind that you have to have this perfect planned out way to share what you… I believe you yourself… admitted, believed, confessed and received. Oh Holy GOD no wonder the world is so confused. It’s confusing and I’m a part of the Family of GOD.

Today is the day of decision for a lot of people, maybe it’s you too. I don’t know your heart. I do see actions loudly. Some sadly have been my own when I too was looking for man approval to be able to move on, move on, be all I could be. The fact is my heart just wants to show identity in-Christ and hone in on the qualities that would make me better and more like that each day.

Ephesians 2:10

7-10Now God has us where He wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all His idea, and all His work. All we do is trust him enough to let Him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join Him in the work he does, the good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

The Narrow Road People

Someone recently described me to another person, right in front of me, like this, “She’s one of those narrow gate people.”

How about you? If someone described you today would you be called a narrow gate person? Would that be an insult or a compliment? Personally I am a narrow way woman. I believe that is what she meant, because quite honestly, the road is narrow, the gates are opened wide. I even said ever so gently that I was purely a Bible Believing, Christ -centered CHRISTian. If anyone wants to have a conversation and take it from that point, I’m ready, willing and always able. What is often said back to me though, when I am willing to meet outside work, usually goes something like this, “Trust me I was raised in the church, had catechism and I know all about the Bible.” Or, I hear, “I already was baptized as a baby and am a Christian.”

One day maybe those in control in the churches around us will just stop in their tracks and decide that we don’t need all these methods and programs. Some of which aren’t quite Biblical even. Imagine that! We all could really come together if we just would agree that the thing we need to do, and the thing that often messes things up, is that we’re always ready to tell the other person about the overhaul needed in their life, and we ourselves aren’t ready to the follow the instructions given in the Book. Seems simple doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure that is what GOD has been thinking over the ages. I’m thinking He thought if they really did what they say they believed, how different things would be at least in the Body. That’s why this woman thinks enough with all the procedures and plans that are place. Can’t we just start from scratch with some Jesus radical ideas? Can’t we just choose to put all these man pages away and focus just on the pages with GOD’s Word… those words are Everlasting Eternal and when we bring those and not all the programs and entertainment, we have lost sight of the One we Love.

Stop asking people if they are in church? Some of you don’t want them anyway. So if you’d stop, drop and admit and change that, maybe they’d come in the door. Ya think?

Stop asking people if they are serving in some ministry? There job in the secular world is their ministry.

Now can be begin again…

BECOMINGNESS

Matthew 7

13-14“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.

15-20“Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned.

21-23“Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance— isn’t going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, ‘Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.’ And do you know what I am going to say? ‘You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don’t impress me one bit. You’re out of here.’

24-25“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.

26-27“But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”

28-29When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying—quite a contrast to their religion teachers! This was the best teaching they had ever heard.

Stop, drop to your knees and pray. Humble yourself before the Lord your GOD, and just walk on the…
