The Privilege of Choice

There are many ways to murder.  For instance many who believe in choosing life, get angry, do things they should not do.  A lot of us get angry, yet we fail to know that the very Word of GOD tells us that GOD equated anger to murder.

Today’s inspiration comes from once again, reading something.  This time it was a comment on Pinterest.  It spurred my little self to post a reply, which of course, as it often does, leads to others replying.  Often it will be someone sharing how you have no right to say what you say.  Or someone who won’t be swayed by what you say.  Maybe even someone who can’t see that what you are saying about what they said, has anything improper about it.  That was the case today.

I’ve been a CHRISTian, a Bible Believing CHRIST-centered CHRISTian for sometime now.  One thing I knew all the days before I accepted Jesus is the choice to choose was up to me.  My parents, as well intentioned as they were, could not make a decision for me to be a CHRISTian by baptizing me as a baby.  Nope, if we are going to talk about the whole thing of choice, we are going to have to be all the way Biblical, or not.  That is the only choice.  We can’t water down GOD’s Word to suit up a cause, or a claim.  We have to take the Word of GOD as is, or we choose not to.

Because GOD Game Us Choices

Matthew 18:8-9
“If your hand or your foot gets in the way of God, chop it off and throw it away. You’re better off maimed or lame and alive than the proud owners of two hands and two feet, godless in a furnace of eternal fire. And if your eye distracts you from God, pull it out and throw it away. You’re better off one-eyed and alive than exercising your twenty-twenty vision from inside the fire of hell.

Because He has we have to realize that all choices have consequences, both good and bad.  GOD gave Adam and Eve choices, and just as Eve was ready to take up her cause, well, we know how that turned out don’t we now?

Our human will can have a bent that has a choosing to do right things but sometimes in wrong ways.  We all get caught up in causes, beliefs and such.  If however we sin while trying to stop someone else from sinning, that age old adage, two wrongs don’t make right, it’s right.

GOD gave dignity to the our ability to choose.  He could have said, I’ll make them, but quite honestly, all you have is a demanded following, not sincerity.  Which is exactly what we need as CHRISTians to remember when we are pointing out some splinter of sin in someone else, we fail to see plank that is about to raise  up in our own life.

Getting Caught Up In the Cause

Ephesians 6:13-18
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

So often we act as if we have to do this or that, when in fact sometimes we fail to realize that GOD is GOD.  We are so ready to point out the sin of someone else, when caught up in a case, we forget that a sin is: anything we say, think or do, that goes against the grain of GOD’s Word.    A sin is Anything that displeases GOD.  If you think you can’t sin in an effort to show someone else that they are sinning.  Well, sister or brother, maybe it’s time to allow GOD to examine your life.  All the thinking, saying and doing that maybe has been going on.

The Choice Is Ours

Make some home owned improvement based on a bit of Scripture.  It’s the perfect season, well any season of life is, but especially for CHRISTians all over the world, it’s a perfect time to allow yourself into the Great Physicians study and get examined.  Home improvements by the Master over all your life.

Matthew 7

A Simple Guide for Behavior

1-5“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.

6“Don’t be flip with the sacred. Banter and silliness give no honor to God. Don’t reduce holy mysteries to slogans. In trying to be relevant, you’re only being cute and inviting sacrilege.

7-11“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?

12“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.

GOD does care so much about Life.

He also cares a lot about the choices those that have chosen to live their life for His Son.

A perfect day to look at the message of the two crosses.  Forgiveness requires choice.  Choice isn’t always about someone else not making the right choice, and you being vocal about their sin.  Sometimes, and quite more often than CHRISTians want to own up to, choices are about the life choices we make, say, do or think, and just how much they align up, all aspects of our life, with What did Jesus do?

The ♥ of the matter is the ♥ of Jesus

Jesus could have waited to die for anyone of us, until we asked.  Can you imagine?  He didn’t though.  So today, instead of bashing people, looking for that splinter of sin, or plank of sin, or sin in general that they are making.  One that is open, evident for the world to see, how about you, how about me?  What sort of sin have we been holding on to.  What sort of splinter of saying, doing, and thinking have we been up to, that just might need Jesus’ tool of tweezers for forgiveness to wash white as snow?

This season of life, this Resurrection SONday coming, we are walking all the week down that Roman Road with our Beloved.  I am His, He is mine.  What better time than now, or even from now on, on a daily basis, to make the choice to come forward and confess that their is only Savior, and we aren’t Him.  It’s time we stop fighting all these battles in a way in which man does on earth.  It’s time we hit the floor knowing that the world begins first within.  It’s never I’m better, your worse.  For better we must get rid of our worse.

A lot of people think that ask, seek and knock are only for that opening day ceremony of coming to Christ.  How sad, for every day is a day we should be asking, seeking, and knocking on the door, not for what we want, but more so for what GOD wants.  We need to ask for His help, seek His way, and knock and allow Him to open us up to doing things more His way, not ours.

  1. Lest you think there are some sort of wings and halo’s attached to me, don’t. I say all this because I’m speaking to myself as well. We are all such complicated, uniquely created individuals. Sometimes we are just plain old, our own worse enemy though. We do enough tripping up of ourselves, before anyone else does. I’m just saying that we the people have to allow ourselves to be examined daily. We also have to allow GOD to use that big eraser and begin us all over again. This is why people are so colorful. We are a workmanship of His creation.
