Do you see Jelly-side DOWN?
If we see things with GOD-eyes, we can see both.
It is, isn’t it? I know, that’s what you always want to hear, always want to read. For many moments in a day don’t look like good, and sometimes, well, don’t look much like GOD is present either. Don’t panic, I won’t be a Debbie Downer. Poor Debbie–how did she ever get that name stuck on her? Imagine if someone had come alongside Debbie, she might not have had that attachment stuck to her all the days of our lives. Sticks and stones will break our bones, but names, whoever said “they’ll never hurt you”, they were liars. Words, action and inaction words, they hurt. As I said, I don’t want to down side you, I truly want us all to take an upside, grass is greener approach.
Maybe not for you. Maybe even not for me later on. We all have moments in days where the up turns downside. A day that begins jelly-side up, turns jelly-side down, and we find ourselves stuck in a sticky mess. What, you’ve never ever had a jelly-side down day? Impossible—inconceivable!!! Although, who am I to question you and your experiences in life. Quite possibly though, if you’ve not experienced all the experience that comes from the jelly-side down day, you don’t quite fully know what it’s like to have that stick with-it witness that comes from anchoring your jelly-side down self into the Hands of the Father to help turn it all around.
In world where we all seemingly are becoming more and more separated by haves and have nots, having to hold onto something of meaning is difficult. It’s most definitely more pronounced this time of year, that’s for sure. I’m going through a gamete of emotions as of late dealing with the in’s and outs of all that has come into our lives, and all that has gone. Still, as always His Presence in my life is what makes the jelly-side down day experiences turn from bittersweet (which we pretty much like in chocolate but not life), to knowing that reminder of His sweet, sweet, ever loving sweet love, is right here with me.
When you experience more than your share of jelly-side downs in life, you become a different person. Some people, when their life turns jelly-side down, they find themselves stuck, and people begin to walk on them, tread marks on them, as if all that downside, is all their fault. Or people make their mark of good works using them. Useful for something, but not exactly what the Lord planned for the jelly-side downers of the world.
People will come up with all sorts of reasons why they no longer associate with a jelly-side down and outter. All sorts of reasons why the very person you “church” with, is not someone you want to be with in the living side, of the outside of the church world. Pastors do it–heck, we are all clayity and it’s done by all. We treat people we see in our daily lives as if they can be categorized and we will make a mark on life showing others how much we do for them, making someone become homeless but not in the way the world see’s homelessness. The jelly-side downers who are not completely out of the picture, become to be no home for a friend.
This season is not suppose to be for a season. It’s suppose to be the reason why we become different after accepting the Great Gift of Jesus into our heart. It’s what makes us be able to make a home in our hearts for all those jelly-side down people.
The Message (MSG)
30-31They waffled: “Why don’t you give us a clue about who you are, just a hint of what’s going on? When we see what’s up, we’ll commit ourselves. Show us what you can do. Moses fed our ancestors with bread in the desert. It says so in the Scriptures: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'”
32-33Jesus responded, “The real significance of that Scripture is not that Moses gave you bread from heaven but that my Father is right now offering you bread from heaven, the real bread. The Bread of God came down out of heaven and is giving life to the world.”
We don’t need to be able to be haves and have-not. We in the Body need to be able to be His Hands and Feet for the sake of bringing that Bread of GOD for life giving purposes and plans that go way, way beyond all that.
The grass is only greener on the Otherside for those living on the unsaved side, if we in the Body make it look so. Lets just remember this season of reason that when we withhold love, we take a life. How can we do less than show love, when the very Love of our Life, showed us that same love while we were yet sinners?
People are not projects they are people. Today look upon someone as child of God and not something for your works resume. Don’t go shouting out all the good you do, when really it’s all about what GOD has already done. We are just bringers of the Bread of Life.
This season of love don’t just bring some program, some food, some ideal, some seasonal it’s now and it’s over, you did your part dealio. Grab a jelly-side downer instead of a box of chocolates. This season look right in the pew next to you, in the cubical next to you on the job, on a bus, in a workroom, in a classroom, and make someone feel as if their jelly-side down life is sweetness to you, because quite honestly a whole lot friendships that we’re suppose to be forever and always, words like we are friends, we are family, have left quite often a very bitter taste in their lives. Those jelly-side downers that once made you feel so good, brought you encouragement, they need it too. They depended on you, even though they didn’t know it. The jelly-side downers, like myself, sometimes find out to late, that all we were useful for, after all you said, and all you did, was truly only to make you feel as if you had significance. Don’t allow that to continue. Be the difference now for those around you who need to turn the sticky jelly side of their life into the look of love. Show them a ♥ that truly will stick like, well… jelly!
Be a tree of Life offering some sweetness to all those jelly-siders. Be His Hands offering the Greener side of Life Giving. Not just for the season though, because quite honestly green is for growth. Just maybe that person who was a jelly-side downer, they’ll grow on you, and you on them. In fact why don’t you be a flower and bloom where they are planted this year, and the years to come. Stop trying to blossom among all the jelly-side uppers and go for blooming where GOD has planted some wild flower honey of some people.
1 Corinthians 13
The Way of Love
1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. 3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Tell me you didn’t just brush past those 1 Corinthians 13 verses as if you’ve been read there, done that reading? Go back right now and before you “read it” ask GOD to give you fresh eyes to catch a glimpse of something new within. GOD’s Word is like that, if it wasn’t so, it wouldn’t need to “BEE” in our lives daily. But it does need to “BEE” so go back and buzz over it with His Sweet Spirit giving you a fresh taste of His Words for Life. You know they aren’t just for Sundays, or witnessing, or even for your Bible Study Fellowships. They are for personal growth–green, growing going and seeing things through new fresh grass that hopefully is the kind of planting within you and I that won’t wither away.
I’m learning to love my name “Bee” more and more. When a lot of people have walked out of my life, the stick-to-it-ness of GOD has always reached out and touched my life and made it so sweet. He is the Honey of my life and I so very much am His, Jeannie Bee!!!
