The Original Building Block
We aren’t perfect, we will never be, we can’t however use that as an excuse to be dumbed down to not growing. A sign of growing is that you… well, grow =) Today don’t walk as if you are perfect, don’t watch someone else and their imperfection fall to the ground, walk in the perfect love of Christ and lift someone up. Otherwise we all fall down on the job, and the one who has fallen and never is shown how to get up, with the faith, hope and love of Christ Jesus, will never know just how beautiful that deep, deep love of Jesus set us free as well.
The Message (MSG)
42-44Jesus said, “Right—and you can read it for yourselves in your Bibles:
The stone the masons threw out
is now the cornerstone.
This is God’s work;
we rub our eyes, we can hardly believe it!
“This is the way it is with you. God’s kingdom will be taken back from you and handed over to a people who will live out a kingdom life. Whoever stumbles on this Stone gets shattered; whoever the Stone falls on gets smashed.”
The Message (MSG)
6-8Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dirt. They kept at him, badgering him. He straightened up and said, “The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone.” Bending down again, he wrote some more in the dirt.
When in the Body will we learn that a sin is a sin, is a sin. We so often want to categorize specific sins, and highlight them from the news, gossip, etc. in the life of others, when in fact it is GOD’s Handiwork to work on rescuing us within in the Body, who have some sins to be let go of, as He came to save us as well from drowning on the plank of sin we ourselves hold on to, but don’t want to talk about. It’s so much easier, calming and best over all to keep all those acceptable in the Body sins covered up, but really they need covering by the Blood just like someone else needs to meet Jesus to cleanse them from sin. Let’s start at the beginning of the front door of our own lives, and churches, before we cast out the stones from the corner of the building, by which we say: ♪♫”We worship You, we worship You, Christ the Lord.”♪♫
Talk about far above rubies… the Living Stone
1 Peter 2:5
The Message (MSG)
4-8Welcome to the living Stone, the source of life. The workmen took one look and threw it out; God set it in the place of honor. Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you’ll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God. The Scriptures provide precedent:
Look! I’m setting a stone in Zion,
a cornerstone in the place of honor.
Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation
will never have cause to regret it.
To you who trust him, he’s a Stone to be proud of, but to those who refuse to trust him,
The stone the workmen threw out
is now the chief foundation stone.
For the untrusting it’s
.. . a stone to trip over,
a boulder blocking the way.
They trip and fall because they refuse to obey, just as predicted.
Sing: My faith is built on nothing else.
What? That’s not the words to the hymn you learned. Well apparently singing ♪♫ My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ the Solid Rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.♪♫ Apparently those words didn’t sink in, so we in the Body of Christ are sort of sinking and missing all the opportunities out there to show that our faith and hope, and love, are built on NOTHING ELSE! Folks, this faith, this foundation is about a whole lot more than that of singing a song, it’s living Song of Life, and our Life Song better represent the One who gave us the breath to sing it.
Wouldn’t you agree that some of the worst decisions we often make are those we make in hate or haste, however you want to name it. One just sounds nicer than the other. Which is pretty much how things are getting dumbed down and summed up within the Body.
When we became Believers we committed, yes committed, to making our decisions based not on what we wanted, but what GOD wanted. We made a commitment to have and to hold, to let go and grow. Didn’t we? Maybe we all didn’t, or maybe some of us have just slipped off the Rock a wee bit and allowed some other sort of precious stones in. I say this because what I’m still seeing is that we are aimed and ready to fire at some secular people rocks, not The Rock of Ages. We keep wanting to pick up the stones and hurl them outward as if it’ll make all that is happening inward all okay. We keep stretching and reaching to tell and yell, and pick and point at everyone else out in the world, the media, the newsworthy sinners, because it’s so much nicer than facing all the not so nice that’s going on within the Body of Christ.
What you forgot that you and I were suppose to let our gentleness be shown? I actually heard Oprah say that love always feels good. What a bunch of bunk. Love doesn’t always feel good. Just like sin doesn’t always look like some secular sin, it sometimes masquerades as something accepted in the Body, so as not to hurt, what the good standing of the church? It was suppose to be we were in good standing with GOD, with Christ, after all, He is the cornerstone of it all. It’s us that are His church, and yet we keep picking to pieces everyone we so want to enter in. Why do you suppose that is? Want me to tell you? I thought not…
We can continue on in using someone else as a measuring stick for how much better off we are, or how we look so much brighter, stronger, lasting, or we can face the fact that what we’ve got going on, on the inside is skewed and needs to be rebuilt.
Here are my two stones I’m throwing out for you to use to examine yourself. It’s not a stone thrown at you, it’s stone to build on. If we are going to start some spiritual building within the Body somebody, some BODY’s have to be willing to take the next step. There are a few ways churches go about this, but the best way is to start talking about all the acceptable sins we’ve allowed to filter through that are eating away at the foundation of the Body of Christ.
We’ve been given such an amazing gift from GOD. The ability to be better than we think we can be. We’ve been given all Building Block, the Cornerstone, the Carpenters Ways, the gifts of The Holy Spirit, yet we still have found a way to muddle it all up and make it look as if our sure foundation was built on something less than that of Jesus.
Can you think of any area of your personal life that you allowed someone other than Jesus, or GOD’s Word to set the standard on?

Until all have heard and know His love,
