“This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’
This morning I was recreating the napkin. Yes, that was correct, I was taking a simple little napkin and turning it into something of a blooming thing in my kitchen. After doing it, and of course photographing my little creations, I got to thinking how much of a turn around specialist Jesus is. How GOD turned things around in the OT so often, and how very much Jesus was about turning around people around, especially those who were dishonoring Him, and all He came to accomplish. The Truth is, it was all for the good of the people, so that the people, when turned around, would be a better reflection of Him, of His Love, of His plans, and for sure His purposes.
We always like to think of Jesus all meek and mild, the baby in the manager, the peace keeper, but quite honestly, the one thing we’ve slacked on, backed off on, I think Jesus would have something to say about, something like we need to turn some things around and get back to some of the basics of His Life in our lives. Not just try to do the throw down of turn around to those who don’t believe, we need to do a little throwing down of our old self, and selfish ways right smack here in the Body and the House of GOD. Jesus wants to do a lot of housekeeping and it begins with us. Don’t look now, it’s turn around, so we don’t all fall down, time. Ready? Said GO!!!
Look at Jesus and His Turn Around Life:
If someone was down and out and they were willing to receive it, to turn around, He gave them a banquet of joy everlasting.
If there was a party going on in the temple, sure it would have been a bit more politically correct for Him to say, great job, good fund-raising, but that is not what He did. What He did was turn the tables and in a moment the meek and mild was a reminder then, as it should be now, that the formula isn’t about pleasing the people, so that the numbers can be high in attendance or finances, but that the technique wasn’t a formula based on anything but that of doing the will of GOD, and making sure that was going on, was GOD-glorifying, and GOD-credited.
Jesus didn’t come to turn us around with a formula that we could follow, He came along with a plan to add, shake and stir up our lives so that they no longer looked like a platter of popularity. Jesus came because what was needed for the turn around in our lives was a new mindset. He was all about letting His Disciples know that if a problem was on it’s way, look up, look forward, look at it and know, we’ve trained up by the best to face all the mess that now has come along. Accepting Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit was the turn around plan. It still is all that is needed, and it is most definitely needed for people to be able to change. The problem is we’ve watered down His plan so much that we are willing to allow anyone to just say they’ve changed and then go on to do whatever they want, as long as they are on our team. We’ve forgotten in the Body that the Master Builder was in charge and the no “I” in team was because together everyone achieves more for “I AM”. Instead of making “I AM” the center of peoples lives turning around, we made the team more important, the Body more of the activists. We left the head coach on the couch and went out onto the field with a big tent plan of our own. How about we pack up our tents and go Home, back Home to Jesus, back home to the Bible being being the basics of life?
J – Just the name of Jesus soothes my soul
E – Eternally the same, He makes me whole
S – Salvation is His free gift to all who believe
U – Understanding through the Spirit we receive
S – Sovereign over all He’s in control
We march for causes, we want some scientist somewhere to come up with a formula to cure so many diseases, which is all well, and good. We also in the Body need to remember that we also are Jesus’ scientists walking the earth today. We are living in a day when some special stuff gets created and takes peoples breath away because of it’s incredible uses, yet we, in the Body have held within ourselves the power to transform lives by one single action, the action of allowing people to turn around and give their lives, not just a fraction, but their whole life, to Christ.
Today take the ordinary, extraordinary canvas of your life and show someone just who is in charge of transforming you, and how it was you, and you alone who gave in to allowing His Spirit to do so.

12 But there’s also this, it’s not too late—
God’s personal Message!—
“Come back to me and really mean it!
Come fasting and weeping, sorry for your sins!”
Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, This most patient God, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe. Who knows? Maybe he’ll do it now, maybe he’ll turn around and show pity. Maybe, when all’s said and done, they’ll be blessings full and robust for your God!
♪♫I’ve Got The Power♪♫
Now there in lies one of the biggest lies of all lies. We’ve got power, but it surely isn’t “I’ve got the power.” Together we can do what? All things by ourselves? I don’t think so. It’s together we can do all things through Christ who gives us the strength. We love to throw Him in the face of those facing problems or who need to get a grip, but when it comes to our own growing and giving up some selfish ambitious ways, we just try to call all that a what? You know what… we in the Body call that a “blessing”. We, some, start saying you’d be blessed like this to if only, or this what GOD game me. And some of you know you’ve manipulated the system to make some of that gain look like it came from GOD when really it was just the way you tweaked it into happening. I know, the power of the truth isn’t always a pretty packaged thing. It never was when Jesus was walking here either. In fact He shook up the temple and turned it upside down, all because a whole lot of selling of something or another was what was at the root of the peoples plans.
Shaken and Stirred
If in fact the Lord is Lord over all, we’ve been entrusted to transform and be a revitalized Body of Believers with one goal, One Savior for all, One way Jesus to go forward. The problem isn’t the problem, the problem is we keep separating ourselves from the crowd, instead of going into the crowd and allowing others to see that we are made of flesh and bone, just like them. We feel, we breath, we walk, we talk, we cry, we fail, we even sometimes fall hard, or fall far away from reaching the mark set before us. But we don’t. We don’t want to get close to the crowd out in the world when it’s safer to just think we can bring them into our world (church) and give them a makeover on our turf. That’s much more comfortable for us. But is it what Jesus would have done?
Jesus’ specialty was being the coach with the power to go onto the field and not stay in the temple. He knew he was not alone. His source was GOD, His companion was His divine ability to reach out to people, showing them that what they needed wasn’t another program, formula or man made plan to get some warm and fuzzy feelings at a conference held in the temple. He wanted to bring them Himself.
Just know the turn around, the transforming begins with Jesus turning us around, and ends with Him doing all the transforming of lives in others because we were willing to get a complete make-over by His Spirit.
At the same moment, Jesus felt energy discharging from him. He turned around to the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
2 Corinthians 7:10
Distress that drives us to God does that. It turns us around. It gets us back in the way of salvation. We never regret that kind of pain. But those who let distress drive them away from God are full of regrets, end up on a deathbed of regrets.
So watch your step, friends. Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. For as long as it’s still God’s Today, keep each other on your toes so sin doesn’t slow down your reflexes. If we can only keep our grip on the sure thing we started out with, we’re in this with Christ for the long haul. These words keep ringing in our ears: Today, please listen; don’t turn a deaf ear as in the bitter uprising.
Taking a good look at them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” They went, and while still on their way, became clean. One of them, when he realized that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God. He knelt at Jesus’ feet, so grateful. He couldn’t thank him enough—and he was a Samaritan.
Choose the simple plan of simply turning around and choosing the Spirit filled life of JOY!
