Okay so it’s on a t-shirt, lets not mince words, or twist the point. Although, that’s a perfect segway into…
If you begin at any point in this writing of mine to think, man Jeannie, that’s a lot of Bible, maybe GOD is thinking you are a lot too. After all you have no problem purchasing and reading all those magazines of gossip at the checkout counter. You have no problem reading all the latest sports info out there about this team, and that team, and this team and that; quite truthfully you do a lot of reading. Am I write. For some of you, you download books and such like never before and now read a lot… so believe me, it’s another twist and turn, and lie from satan when he makes you think that the Bible is ever to much to read. Maybe your sins, your lifestyle is a bit much for GOD to take as you blindly go about with a lack of saying you believe something, that has been leading you blindly down the road of your life.
Today’s inspiration came from a moment of reading…
♪♫ Three blind mice, three blind mice, see how they run, see how they run. ♪♫ No, but that got you singing, cause you just couldn’t help yourself. Well actually we can… See how blindly we follow?
This is when you know you are really tired and it’s time to go to put the cookbook down and go to sleep. I was doing my required reading 😉 of gazing at cookbooks when I saw a recipe entitled “Helen Keller Cookies”. This morning as I looked again I saw it was not Helen Keller Cookies but Helen Keir Cookies. Talk about the blind leading the blind. I’m blessed at least to have had the sense to reread it, knowing that something was amiss. Now, for those of you who think I think, that Helen Keller couldn’t bake a cookie, or cook, you are totally wrong. I’m thinking whatever Helen Keller put her mind to that woman could have done, and in fact, she did. =) She after all had one wonderful, dedicated, amazing, gave up her life practically, and her reputation of looking like she could do the impossible, and unpopular way might I add, with the folks of that day she was living in. So if something GOD wants you to do will have you lose your standing in the “cool” group, the financially fit group, or that good old, still around even in the busy Body group at church, and the ever popular gossip, back-biting people of this day, now worries! It’s GOD, and GOD alone that has your back. If everyone walks away when you do this thing GOD is leading you to do, and if everyone is going to treat you like one of the untouchables, no worries, GOD has got you in His sights. If you are walking with GOD, and living life looking like the character of His Son is in you, He’s got your back, and your front, and your future. So no worries. Now I’m here to tell you that the moment you embark on such a journey, even though you will have the clearest and calmest sense of the Holy Spirit’s peace, some not so moments do follow. Hold on, hold fast, hold firm! The rest of the group just hasn’t caught up yet. Also, don’t be surprised if even a lot of very good Biblical people shun or allow others to shout out at you. Is that right? No, but it happens. Not everyone seems to allow His strength to be all they need. Not everyone can find favor in having some heavy life situations put upon them. You just do what GOD wants you to do, and leave those people, who admire you so much, in His Hands too. They do need to get with the program of not allowing intimidation or all the extras that come from those “groups” to be their attachment and security blanket, but that’s not your job to tell them that. Just allow GOD to be giving you what you need, with not one distraction from all this whoop-lah of feeling like you’ve lost almost every solid friend you’ve ever had. It’s okay. How do I know, because I’ve been in those shoes. All you need to be focusing on as GOD leads you, is that He’s walking in those shoes on earth with You. Jesus left the Holy Spirit for you to have that peace, don’t throw it away because some powerful earthly mouthed, financed people make you believe the steps you are taking are not of GOD. GO WITH GOD!!! Read Job and even a lot of Paul’s writings like you’ve never done before. Remember finding favor in GOD’s Eyes is all that matters, all the rest on the plate of life, allow GOD to deal with. You are a team of One in-Christ Jesus. That’s your banner, and it’s all the solidarity you need dear one.
Don’t allow the point of this little sermonette to distract you from what is being shared here. Knowing the whole truth is freeing. I talked to a young person the other day who, when I said, “You could be like a shopper and just set it down anywhere.” (Fully joking of course.) The young person said, “I would if nobody was looking.” To which I of course replied: “But GOD is always looking.” To which they replied: “Oh GOD doesn’t mind about such little things.” This person looked at me like I was:
Magdalena, Hagdalena Uka Taka Waka Taka
Oka Mocha Polka was her name
She had seven hairs on the top of her head
Four were alive and the rest were dead
She had two eyes in the middle of her head
One was green and the other was red
She had two teeth in the middle of her mouth
One pointing north and the other pointing south
She had two teeth like a bathroom mat
Everybody asked how they got like that
And one day – a ten ton truck – hit poor Magdalena
The poor truck driver had to buy a new machine
What? You never heard of Magdalena Hagdalena? It’s a silly old little jingle we use to sing around the table during girl scouts. The point is, there was no Magdalena Hagdalena, but when you are six or seven, she resembles a scary lady up the street, or, maybe even me now.
However, there is a Jesus Christ, and no, He is not someones explicative. He is also not just some somebody who died on the cross so you could be saved and then live like hell the rest of your life. Jesus came to give life, and if you read your Bible, you’d know it was so that life could be more abundant, and sure we’re gonna have a party, and we can not worry and be happy, we have in-Christ so much to look forward to we can’t help but get excited right now. That is what this life is about, not so you could have permission to do as you please, ask for forgiveness, and start the misbehavior all up again. Someone forgot to teach you about the sins of commission and omission, which I just think I will, but not today.
And maybe, just maybe you don’t mind living like hell and believe that Jesus is living in your heart because you say so. That again is pretty much a falsehood, because Jesus cannot have anything to do with sin. He cannot be who He is, and still be living in your heart of sin. If Helen Keller would have continued on as she was, she never would have impacted so many. It was the fact that she lived life to the fullest where she was living, in a dark world, of which she allowed the light of living to come in. Someone made an impact on her life, Anne Sullivan, her teacher, and she became someone wonderful, someone reborn. How about you…
This young person just looked at me like I was some old lady living in some world where GOD actually expected a CHRISTian to behave in a manner becoming of entitlement of having the name CHRIST in your taken name.
Really? GOD cares about what we do all the time. GOD cares a whole lot about what we do when nobody is looking, because He is always looking. Seriously, the Bible teaches how important it is to always be consistent in your behavior when you are being watched by the boss, because truly the BOSS is always watching. GOD the boss of your life is always there aware.
Did you know that the saying, “The blind leading the blind.” comes from the Bible? How often do people quote the Bible and they don’t even know it, care, or quote and misquote and don’t care. Sort of like the infamous “Eat, drink and be merry.” People love that verse because they think it’s carte blanche to eat, drink, mostly drink, and do whatever they want because GOD just wants you to party, be happy, and not care about today, let alone tomorrow. As I said in the title, blind, led by blind. Read the passage from Matthew below and learn a little from the One who heals the blind.
1-2After that, Pharisees and religion scholars came to Jesus all the way from Jerusalem, criticizing, “Why do your disciples play fast and loose with the rules?”
3-9But Jesus put it right back on them. “Why do you use your rules to play fast and loose with God’s commands? God clearly says, ‘Respect your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone denouncing father or mother should be killed.’ But you weasel around that by saying, ‘Whoever wants to, can say to father and mother, What I owed to you I’ve given to God.’ That can hardly be called respecting a parent. You cancel God’s command by your rules. Frauds! Isaiah’s prophecy of you hit the bull’s-eye:
These people make a big show of saying the right thing,
but their heart isn’t in it.
They act like they’re worshiping me,
but they don’t mean it.
They just use me as a cover
for teaching whatever suits their fancy.”
10-11He then called the crowd together and said, “Listen, and take this to heart. It’s not what you swallow that pollutes your life, but what you vomit up.”
12Later his disciples came and told him, “Did you know how upset the Pharisees were when they heard what you said?”
13-14Jesus shrugged it off. “Every tree that wasn’t planted by my Father in heaven will be pulled up by its roots. Forget them. They are blind men leading blind men. When a blind man leads a blind man, they both end up in the ditch.”
15Peter said, “I don’t get it. Put it in plain language.”
16-20Jesus replied, “You, too? Are you being willfully stupid? Don’t you know that anything that is swallowed works its way through the intestines and is finally defecated? But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. It’s from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing. That’s what pollutes. Eating or not eating certain foods, washing or not washing your hands—that’s neither here nor there.”
I once was blind, but now I see:
Do you? Or, are you one of those people who still think that born again people are cuckoo, because you got sprinkled on with some water when you were young by a priest and that’s all you need to get into Heaven, well after you spend some time in purgatory first, and someone miraculously prays you out–or so you hope someone is left to do that. Or maybe you’ll need a sin eater. Oh, I see you never saw that episode from back in the day on “The Night Gallery” called “Sins of the Father”, with Richard Thomas in it. What you don’t think people thought that being able to eat the sins of another after they died was something real too. Truly they did, some blind, leading the blind people all throughout history have twisted and turned the Bible on it’s head to fit something into the box of what man would like to believe, so that they could do what they wanted and be rescued by man, not the Jesus they said that saved them in the first place.
Instead of continuing on in blindness, understand it this way. In the Bible, Nicodemus didn’t get it either. He was like, Jesus, how can someone go back into the womb and be born again. He was one wise guy (no, not like the Mafia sort, wise like mans wisdom), but at least instead of walking away staying stupid, he asked, he asked not just anybody, Nicodemus went right to the source, JESUS!
So instead of being like the three blind mice, letting the blind lead the blind, try living with these three wise men: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These are the three that lead to Life, life abundant and Everlasting.
Read it for yourself, you don’t have to take my word for the Word. I’m going to shut-up and let you read this passage of Scripture for yourself.
1-2There was a man of the Pharisee sect, Nicodemus, a prominent leader among the Jews. Late one night he visited Jesus and said, “Rabbi, we all know you’re a teacher straight from God. No one could do all the God-pointing, God-revealing acts you do if God weren’t in on it.”
3Jesus said, “You’re absolutely right. Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it’s not possible to see what I’m pointing to—to God’s kingdom.”
4“How can anyone,” said Nicodemus, “be born who has already been born and grown up? You can’t re-enter your mother’s womb and be born again. What are you saying with this ‘born-from-above’ talk?”
5-6Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.
7-8“So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’—out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.”
9Nicodemus asked, “What do you mean by this? How does this happen?”
10-12Jesus said, “You’re a respected teacher of Israel and you don’t know these basics? Listen carefully. I’m speaking sober truth to you. I speak only of what I know by experience; I give witness only to what I have seen with my own eyes. There is nothing secondhand here, no hearsay. Yet instead of facing the evidence and accepting it, you procrastinate with questions. If I tell you things that are plain as the hand before your face and you don’t believe me, what use is there in telling you of things you can’t see, the things of God?
13-15“No one has ever gone up into the presence of God except the One who came down from that Presence, the Son of Man. In the same way that Moses lifted the serpent in the desert so people could have something to see and then believe, it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up—and everyone who looks up to him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life.
16-18“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
19-21“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.”
Until all have heard of His love,
